Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs in your browser, so your documents never leave your device.

Do I lose quality?

Embedded images are recompressed: at the low level the loss is almost invisible and at high it is more noticeable. Text and vectors are untouched, so they stay sharp and selectable.

What does “Maximum savings” do?

It turns each page into an image. It greatly reduces the size of scans and heavy PDFs, but the text can no longer be selected or searched.

Why does my PDF barely shrink?

If the PDF only has text and vector graphics it is already very light and there are no images to optimize. For a scan, try “Maximum savings”.
