Frequently asked questions
What is GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM)?
The Markdown variant used by GitHub. It adds tables, strikethrough, task lists with checkboxes and automatic links. It is enabled by default.
Is the generated HTML safe?
Yes. Before it is displayed it is sanitized with DOMPurify, which strips scripts, event attributes and other dangerous code even if it was inside the Markdown.
How does the automatic table of contents work?
Click “Insert table of contents” and a list of links to H1–H3 headings is added. With “Add ids to headings” every title gets a GitHub-compatible id, so the links also work in the exported HTML.
Is my text saved?
No. Everything is processed in your browser and never sent to a server. Download the .md file if you want to keep it.
