Frequently asked questions
Is it free with no character limit?
Yes. The voice is generated by your own browser with the Web Speech API, so there are no usage or length limits and no account is needed.
Why do I see different voices on another device?
Voices depend on the operating system and browser: Windows, macOS, Android and iOS ship different voices, and Edge and Chrome add natural cloud voices. You can install more voices from your system’s language settings.
Can I download the audio as MP3?
Browsers do not allow recording speech-synthesis output, so no 100% local tool can export an MP3 without sending your text to a server. Here we prioritize your privacy: the text never leaves your device.
Is my text sent to a server?
Not with local voices. Voices marked ☁ are your browser’s cloud services (Google or Microsoft); if privacy matters, choose a voice without that symbol.
