Frequently asked questions
Why do some images download as WebP?
Because many websites serve WebP so pages load faster. It is a good web format, but not every program supports it yet.
Do I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?
Some, since JPG is lossy. At 90% quality or higher the difference is barely noticeable in photographs.
What if the WebP has a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so it is filled with the background color you choose (white by default). If you need to keep it, convert to PNG instead.
Does it work with animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted, since JPG does not support animation.
Are my images sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so images never leave your device.
