Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The JPG already lost information when it was compressed and PNG cannot bring it back. What you gain is not losing more when you edit and save again.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
Because PNG discards nothing. A photo as PNG can be several times its JPG size; that is normal.
Will the result have transparency?
The PNG file supports it, but a JPG photo has no transparent areas: you will need to create them afterwards in an editor.
