Convert Excel (XLSX) to CSV

Open an Excel workbook, choose the sheet you need and download it as CSV with the delimiter you prefer: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe. You can add a UTF-8 BOM so Excel shows accents correctly when you reopen it. The file is read in your browser and not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read in your browser and the CSV is generated right there.

Does it support old .xls files?

No, only .xlsx. If you have an .xls, open it in Excel and save it as .xlsx before converting.

What happens with formulas?

The calculated value shown by the cell is converted, not the formula.

And dates?

They come out in ISO format (2024-03-05); if the cell includes a time, it is added (2024-03-05T10:30:00Z).

What is the UTF-8 BOM for?

It is a mark at the start of the file that helps Excel recognize UTF-8 and show accented letters correctly when you open the CSV directly.
