SVG optimizer and compressor

SVGs exported by design editors usually carry metadata, comments and coordinates with far too many decimals. Paste the code or upload your files and SVGO cleans them instantly: you see how much they weigh before and after, with a preview of both. Everything happens in your browser.

How to use

  1. 1Paste the SVG code or drag in one or more .svg files.
  2. 2Adjust the options: decimals, multiple passes, viewBox, ids and dimensions.
  3. 3Compare the size and preview of the original and the optimized version.
  4. 4Copy the code or download the SVG (or all of them as a ZIP).

Use cases

  • Cut the weight of a website’s icons and logos so it loads faster.
  • Clean the SVG exported from Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape before embedding it.
  • Prepare illustrations for an app or a component library.
  • Remove fixed dimensions so an SVG adapts to its container.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller does an SVG get?

It depends on the file: SVGs exported from editors typically shrink by 30% to 70%. The tool shows you the exact saving.

Does optimizing damage the image?

With the default settings you will see no change. If you lower the decimals a lot, very small shapes can distort: always compare with the preview.

Why keep the viewBox?

The viewBox lets the SVG scale with CSS. Removing it stops it adapting to its container, which is why it is kept by default.

What is keeping ids for?

If your CSS, your JavaScript or a `<use>` refer to identifiers in the SVG, optimizing would rename them and break those links.

Are my files uploaded?

No. SVGO runs in your browser and the files never leave your device.
